Le territoire de la basse vallée du Rhin, de la Meuse et de leurs affluents à la fin du Paléolithique supérieur (Belgique, Hollande, Allemagne du Nord-Ouest) ; The Territory of the Rhine Lower Valley, of the Meuse and of their Tributaries at the End of the Upper Palaeolithic (Belgium, the Netherlands, North-Western Germany)

The north European plain appears to have been abandoned during the Last Glacial Maximum. However, beginning with the Dryas I, evidence for population movement and re-colonisation of Belgium and Germany can be observed with the establishment of Magdalenian populations. Cultural traits are identical to those observed in Northern France. Later, regional traditions develop during the Bölling (Hamburgian, Creswellian). Finally, a very early Mesolithic appears during the Alleröd and Dryas III.
