The Green Macaw (Ara ambiguus) in Honduras: notes of its distribution, habitat and threats

The Green Macaw (Ara ambiguus) is one of the 15 parrots (parakeet, parrot and macaw) found in the humid tropical forests of Honduras. Its rarity and scarce information limits knowledge about its population status and conservation. In the present article, we describe its distribution and some threats. We model its potential distribution using the MaxEnt program, through which it is estimated that its habitat is restricted to the Honduran Moskitia and very specifically in the lowland, well-drained, evergreen broadleaved tropical forest. We suggest urgently population for this species must be stu... Mehr ...

We suggest urgently population for this species must be studied, which would contribute to propose strategies for their ecological viability and conservation in the Honduran Moskitia region.
