Sounding the Wooden Bells, Mar Saba

This item was collected and donated to the archive by project partner Leila Sansour. The image portrays a depiction of two men sounding the wooden bells at Easter time at the Greek Orthodox convent of Mar Saba, located 20km east of Bethlehem. This image was published in 'The Illustrated London News' on the 1st April 1893. This figure exists as part of the Photographs and Prints collection within the Leila Sansour project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
