Monografia (especialização) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Centro de Tecnologia , Curso de Especialização em Educação Ambiental, EaD, RS, 2018. ; The work presents an Environmental Education initiative carried out at the Neli Ilse Thomé School of Early Childhood Education, located in the County of Crissiumal, Great Southern River, which encourage the construction of environmental knowledge related to residual cooking oil of kitchen produced during the preparation food and show an alternative form of disposal through the production of soap. The environmental knowledge in the school environment is an important tool for disseminating information take along in the students the reflect about changes in habits, values and attitudes on societythat, can help the human being to live in harmony with nature through a sustainable perspective. The work was carried out during the second semester of 2018, with the classes of Maternal I and Maternal II, involving the students and their respective parents, as well as the school, teachers and other employees, who collaborated, participated and showed interest in the promoted activities through Environmental Education. The work is part of the research-action modality, as it performs a survey of the knowledge of the subjects involved and intervene for a change of attitude to promote the correct disposal of residual cooking oil. Among the activities carried out are the production of an informative pamphlet that seeks to introduce the theme with the students and parents, a survey on the disposal of residual cooking oil with parents and children, a lecture and the production of soap as an alternative and disposal. The results present the description of the data obtained and advances shown by the dissemination of environmental knowledge through the educational purpose, which are presented through the records produced throughout the educational process and analyzed with theoretical basis in authors, guidelines and current legislation.
