From cash to cards: how debit card payments overtook cash in the Netherlands

In this study, we present and discuss the results of a longitudinal survey on consumers’ payment behaviour carried out yearly during the period 2010 to 2016. We have collected data among 119,117 Dutch consumers aged 12 years and older using single day payment diaries. Between 2010 and 2013 the field work was carried out in September, whereas from 2014 onwards the field work has taken place during the whole year.
