To support on farm grazing management in the Netheralnds a grass monitoring was established in 2014. The aim of the network is to share and publish data on grass quality, grass growth and soil temperature in different regions of the Netherlands to serve as a benchmark. Grass quality, sward height and soil temperature were measured weekly during the grazing season of 2014 and 2015 by farmers, researchers and agricultural sutdents. These data were used to calculate grass growth. Thus far grass growth curves of grasslands in the high output dairy farming systems of the Netehrlands were not available. Publishing of the data increased the awareness of farmers on possible improvements of their grassland management, thereby supporting grazing.
