Abstract Background The epidemiology of acute bacterial meningitis has changed substantially since the introduction of conjugate vaccines. Methods We analyzed nationwide surveillance data of all cerebrospinal fluid isolates received by the Netherlands Reference Laboratory for Bacterial Meningitis in the Netherlands.
