Parenting across borders : effects of transnational parenting on the lives of Angolan and Nigerian migrant parents in The Netherlands

This study is about Angolan and Nigerian parents who live in the Netherlands, but whose children reside in the country of origin. It examines whether this separation effects the wellbeing of the migrant parent. The study reveals that transnational separation can indeed have a negative impact on the wellbeing of the parents. However, this separation does not have to be problematic if good family arrangements are made, such as maintaining regular contact with the child.
