Obverse and reverse ; This anonymous silver medallion recalls the events of the 1560s. In the upper left, Cardinal Granvelle, with his six newly appointed bishops, sits enthroned, nearby a cat wearing a cardinal's hat plays with a captured mouse, symbolic of Granvelle's role vis-a-vis the Netherlands. In the upper right Margaretha of Parma receives the petition of the nobles to soften the anti-Protestant edicts. Beneath her is written "Freedom of the Fatherland" (Libertas Patriae).
