In 1950, the Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk (NHK) adopted a new Church Order, after having lived for over 130 years under an order given to her by King William I after the fall oJ Napoleon. Especially since the days of Groen van Prinsterer, Abraham Kuyper and J. Hoedemaker, the issue of the place and function of the confessions of the Church in the Church Order have occupied an important role in the discussion of the Church.
