The discovered areas in North America, South America, and Africa are outlined in specific colors for the English, Spanish, and Portuguese claims. The second map (plate 26) depicts The Netherlands at the death of Queen Elizabeth in the year 1603. It was divided into the United Netherlands and Spanish Netherlands.
