Banquet of the Officers;

A highly profitable source of income for a Dutch painter such as Frans Hals came in the form of group portraits, primarily of members of the militia. This particular example, while not the most inventive, does capture the individuality of each of the soldiers. The painting's repetitive banners, sashes and curtains demonstrate Hals' ability to organize and compose a painting strategically.
