This assignment is part of the EVF-project “Innovatieve discardvermindering in de praktijk” (Innovative discard reduction in practice). In this report we present a short overview of examples of (real time)-closures in Europe. Additionally, known advantages and disadvantages are listed. Next we present discard maps that are based on data from the yearly Dutch discard monitoring and ongoing VIP projects collecting discards. Two sources of data are currently available. We discuss the suitability of these maps and the information they deliver as a driver for a possible RTC system.
