Daarbij staat de Nederlandse landbouwondernemer centraal. Vanuit het perspectief van de Nederlandse landbouwer worden de mogelijkheden voor koolzaadteelt beoordeeld. Dit in het kader van de EU-richtlijn om te komen tot een vervanging van 2% van de transportbrandstoffen door biotransportbrandstoffen in Nederland. Naast bio-ethanol is biodiesel daarin een belangrijke (bio)transportbrandstof. Eén van de grondstoffen voor biodiesel is (geteelde) koolzaad.
