In this contribution we will pay close attention to the position of sworn translators and interpreters in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Among other, we focus on their legal position, i.e. the legislation governing the profession and the associated rights and obligations. Also several professional organizations, which unite and represent sworn translators, will be discussed. Besides outlining the theoretical framework we try to mediate a look at the practice of practicing this profession.
