Ut legis, ita vertis ! Autour de deux traductions françaises de Platon à la Renaissance

This article aims to illustrate how translation is a witness to the way texts are read from one era to another, and how the translator translates a text in much the same way as he reads it (Ut legis ita vertis !) Moreover, the age in which a text is read is not necessarily the one in which it was written, so that the translator often introduces the text to be translated into a different time period than that of the original and one which the author could not have earlier foreseen.
