Lady Holland's diaries were published by the Earl of Ilcester in the first decade of 20th century. He valued her testimony as a witness of the exceptional period between the French Revolution and the end of the Georgian Era. However, editor’s intervention substantially modified the original purpose of the work which acquires a different meaning in the new historical fields like gender history.
