Western Theological Seminary as potter's wheel

"Have Thine own way, Lord!" begins the poem by Adelaide A. Pollard. "Have thine own way, Lord," echoes the fervent prayer offered by students as they begin the years of seminary education. "Thou art the Potter; I am the clay." One senses in incoming students a willingness to be molded, shaped, and stretched by the theological process. And if God is the potter ·and the student the clay, then Western Theological Seminary is, in some sense, the potter's wheel, the instrument on which the vessel is refined.
