Mapping 'Flemish' settlements in South Wales : electromagnetic induction (EMI) survey at the villages of Wiston (Pembrokeshire) and Whitson (Monmouthshire)
Around 1112, a Fleming called Wizo settled in Wiston, a village in mid-Pembrokeshire. Together with other Flemings, he is believed to have influenced the morphology of settlements in South Wales. An in-depth morphological and metrical comparison with similar settlements in the medieval County of Flanders has not yet been attempted however.
