Abstract Preclinical data showed anticancer effects of statins in melanoma, but meta‐analyses could not demonstrate a reduced melanoma incidence in statin users. Rather than preventing occurrence, statins might reduce growth and metastatic spread of melanomas and ultimately improve survival.
