We provide an overview of evidence for effective suicide prevention interventions and their significance for the Dutch national agenda for suicide prevention. In 2020, a systematic review reported the effect of preventive interventions on suicide and suicide attempts. This meta-analysis and current developments in the Netherlands are discussed. Sixteen controlled studies with 252,932 participants showed that suicide prevention interventions can prevent suicides and suicide attempts.
