Psalms and hymns, with the catechism, confession of faith, and liturgy, of the Reformed Dutch Church of North America.

A committee appointed by the General Synod of 1788, published in 1789 a new Psalm book, containing, by request, some well-composed hymns. In 1814 Dr. Livingston expanded the collection of hymns. The Synod adopted his book which became the basis of the denominational hymnody. In 1831 it became Book 1 of the enlarged edition, and the 172 Additional hymns became Book 2--C.f.
