Apostle Thomas

The signature was carefully scratched in the wet paint, down to the level of the underpainting, at the lower left of the picture on the edge of the table. In the 17th century or early 18th century, the short signature was erased, by scratching away the paint layer, and replaced by a forged Rembrandt signature. To its right is inscribed: "A1656"
