Christ and the Woman of Samaria

Inscribed lower center, on step: Rembrandt. / f 1655. In 1968 Horst Gerson accepted this as an autograph work of Rembrandt. Hubert von Sonnenburg, conservator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art also believes this painting to be a genuine Rembrandt. However, Walter Liedtke, curator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, disagrees with this attribution, and believes the painting to be the work of a Rembrandt follower.
