Emblematic still life with flagon, glass, jug and bridle
Drinking vessels on a shelf, a bridle, two clay pipes and sheet music. They appear to be objects on a shelf high up on a wall. The glass casts a shadow on the music, of which the corner appears to be curling up. The page of music contains the text 'If you ignore the tempo, you will succumb to untempered evil.' It is a warning that one should maintain a sense of proportion in life, just as in music. The bridle is a warning to keep desire in check.
