De Oude Kerk: Interior view

Interior view ; Founded in the 13th century on an artificial mound on the right bank of the Amstel. After a raid and a fire in 1274, the church was rebuilt after 1300 and dedicated to St. Nicholas, patron saint of sailors and bakers. After the Alteration of 1578, the church became Reformed. The roof of the Oude Kerk is the largest medieval wooden vault in Europe. The Estonian planks date back to 1390.
