House of Lambert Adriaensen Smidt, Blauvelt, NY

This imposing residence has a basement level not seen in many of the old sandstone houses. The main floor is accessed via a porch which is supported by brick pillars.This illustration is Plate 58 in "Pre-Revolutionary Dutch Houses and Families" by Rosalie Fellows Bailey, 1936. There is an extensive write-up on the house and the Smidt and Blauvelt families in the book.
