Survey on Natural Radiation in Houses in Belgium

The distribution of 100 passive radon alpha track etching detectors and TLD gamma dosemeters in Belgian houses is discussed and the statistics of the inhabitants' answers to a questionnaire are presented. The characteristics of the radon detector and of the electrochemical etching method are given and its calibration is described. Results regarding the influence of different etching parameters on the sensitivity are reported. Data on radon concentrations measured over three months periods in selected houses during 1982 and 1983 are given.
