«They have ruined everything»: Green gentrification in Ghent, Belgium

peer reviewed ; In recent years, some critical scholars have started to link urban greening initiatives to processes of gentrification. Up to now, however, much remains to be known about this phenomenon, which has been described as green gentrification. Focusing on three greening initiatives that were introduced over a two-decade period in one gentrifying neighbourhood of Ghent (Belgium), this study aims to contribute to the critical literature on green gentrification by highlighting the multi-faceted, dynamic and symbiotic nature of the process.
