peer reviewed ; UNLABELLED: Infections with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) can cause severe disease. In young children, RSV is the most common cause of lower respiratory tract illness and life-threatening infections most commonly occur in the first years of life. In adults, elderly and immunocompromised people are most vulnerable.
