A new genus, Paromoeopygma, and its type species, P. bellicastellana n. sp., are described in detail. The species gives its name to a new zone of the Lower Famennian. This zone has a great stratigraphie importance because it is also developed in a region where other rhynchonellid zones are poorly represented.
