International audience ; In recent years, six suspected cases of sacred forests consisting of trees, shrubs or poles have been studied using earth and life sciences. Two were identified as 'sacred woods', respectively of celtic and Gallo-Roman age. For four other cases, including one in a Gallo-Roman sanctuary, the interpretation proved to be more complex, or even unrelated to humans. The study allows a comparison of the methods used and the results obtained, as well as a perspective on the contribution of these to the characterisation of possible ritual contexts. The subject is emblematic of a problematic dealing with both archaeology sensu stricto, or the study of anthropic structures and manufactured objects, and archaeo-sciences based on naturalistic clues, such as identifiable characteristics in plant species, animal species, and soil traces. The resulting reflections make it possible to apply the research problem to a few other contexts, namely four sites with combustion structures and ten enclosure ditches. ; Ces dernières années, six cas supposés d’aménagements boisés particuliers constitués d’arbres, d’arbustes ou de poteaux ont été étudiés à l’aide des sciences de la terre et de la vie. Deux ont été identifiés comme des « bois sacrés », respectivement gaulois et gallo-romain. Pour quatre autres cas, dont un dans un sanctuaire gallo-romain, l’interprétation s’est révélée plus complexe, voire sans lien avec l’homme.
