Belgians

When Germany invaded and occupied Belgium, she seized all raw materials and brought industry to a standstill. Belgium is the most densely populated country in Europe and foodstuffs began to grow short very quickly. To meet this need, the “Commission for Relief in Belgium” of which Herbert Hoover was president, was organized to import and distribute food among the Belgians. Here we see the people getting their food tickets.
