Monsignor Georges Lemaître: Life and Work of a Visionary Belgian Physicist

Georges Henri Joseph Edouard Lemaître was born in Charleroi (Belgium) on 17 July 1894 in a devout Catholic family. He and his brother, Jacques, served in the First World War in the volunteer corps.
