We examine the employment growth of innovative firms in 23 transition economies. * Employment growth figures vary largely across countries. * Young and small innovative firms grow fastest in countries with strong IPRs. * Mature innovative firms grow fastest in countries with weak IPRs. * Employment growth heterogeneity might explain the ambiguity of former findings.
