Health at work In the NHS - A long-running national programme to promote health at work among employees in the health service is switching its focus from employers in the acute sector, such as hospitals, to those in primary care, including GPs. Surgeries and clinics will receive advice and guidance on establishing local programmes to improve and monitor the occupational health and wellbeing of staff. The focus of the 10-year Health at Work in the NHS initiative will shift from efforts to encourage staff to change lifestyles - for example, through healthy eating and exercise initiatives - towards strategic efforts to improve work environment and employment policies.
