Pay awards fall to 3% - Pay pressures are abating against a backdrop of falling headline inflation and the threat of recession. Provisional figures from the IRS databank show that our headline measure of whole-economy pay awards fell to 3% in the three months ending July 2001, down from a (revised) 3.2% in June.
