Norfolk education staff wellbeing project: working for fitter schools - A steady trickle of legal cases involving stressed education staff, with research suggesting that teaching is one of the most stressful professions, has placed employee wellbeing at the heart of local education authorities' health and safety agenda. The TUC claims that stress is the main health and safety concern in four out of five schools. Norfolk Education Authority set up a staff wellbeing project in 1999, as a way of addressing the work-related health issues causing concern to its teaching and non-teaching staff. We examine what the project has achieved in its first two years.
