Pay plateau continues Significant upward pay pressures remain largely absent from the UK economy, with settlements holding steady at 3% in June, according to our latest monthly analysis. Figures from the IRS databank show that pay awards across the whole-economy (the midpoint in the range of recorded deals) stood at 3% in the quarter ending June 2001. Our headline settlement measure has now been pitched at between 3% and 3.25% over the first half of this year, and there are few signs that this broadly stable picture will change during the remainder of 2001.
