Lights, camera, action: cultural diversity in the media - Both ITN and the BBc are promoting greater balance in etnic minority representatin across their workforces. They have com together with a number of other television broadcasters to form the Cultural Diversity Network. This body was created in response to concerns about the industry's representation of the UK's multicultural society, both on screen and behing the camera. The main initiatives includes as part of the CDN programme include: setting objectives for ethnic minority employment; establishing an online database of ethnic minority talent; modernising the casting and portrayal of ethnic minorities in programming; sharing non-commercially sensitive research on cultural diversity; and allowing official monitoring of progress.
