Improving retention and performance through induction - The time and money invested in recruitment and retention strategies is often wasted when the induction process does not receive the priority it deserves. This article shows why induction should be seen as an important process, looks at its aims, and examines recent trends and developments. We then provide case studies of four diverse organisations' induction processes. Each one covers: the content of induction; its length; where responsibility lies in managing it; the methods that are used; evaluation systems; and the business benefits that the employers are achieving as a result.
