Work-life: the state of play - Since the family-friendly provisions of the Employment Relations Act came into force at the end of last year, the issue of work-life balance has continued to receive a good deal of attention at all levels of government, business and the public services. Recent developments include the launch by leading firms of an employers' campaign on work-life balance, the establishment of a government committee on the issue, and the announcement of the results of a major two-year work programme by the National Work-Life Forum. We provide a round-up of recent developments, and interview HH practitioners at the Arts Council of Wales, the BBC and Guinness, who help us gauge the early impact of the new entitlement to unpaid parental leave - the Government's flagship policy on worklife balance.
