Clerical pay survey - The latest annual IRS survey of clerical pay details the salary levels, pay awards and working hours of clerical staff in 57 organisations - 43 private and 14 public - in 10 industrial sectors. The median pay rate for new starters is GBP9,470, while the maximum reported salary is GBP26,000. Between January and November 2000 the median basic pay rise was 3%, with a merit equivalent worth 3.58%. Working hours are closely bunched between 35 and 39 hours.
