Analysis of migrations by age in Belgium 1971-1981
Analyses migration balances by age in Belgian communes between the 1970 and 1981 population censuses. Migration balances are drawn up by comparing expected and observed age structures in 1981. The projected figures were calculated from data compiled in 1970 and appropriate mortality tables, using a closed population hypothesis. Chi-scores are used to compare the observed and expected populations in a probabilistic way, and are submitted to principal component analysis. The results show that migration patterns are totally different for foreigners and Belgian nationals, the latter having three m... Mehr ...

The results show that migration patterns are totally different for foreigners and Belgian nationals, the latter having three main migratory behaviors for each of which a pivot-age can be determined. Spatially, the main distinctions are between urban, suburban and rural communities. -M.Dean ; SCOPUS: NotDefined.j ; info:eu-repo/semantics/published
