First Reformed Protestant Dutch Church historical marker: Site of the First Reformed Protestant Dutch Church of New Hempstead. Organized January 12, 1750: First Consistory chosen, April 22, 1750: First stone laid June 11, 1751: Dedicated September 8, 1751: Rebuilt in 1826. Name changed to First Reformed Protestant Dutch Church in Clarkstown. May 6, 1840: Building destroyed by fire, April 4 1904: "In this place will I give peace with the Lords of Hosts."
