Room for the Lord's Supper

Further reflecting a common Dutch practice is the adjoining room with a long table for the celebration of the Lord's Supper. In the Dutch tradition people would leave their pews and enter an adjoining room (often the former choir/apse of the church) and be seated at table for the Lord's Supper. In this usage it was common for the congregation to stand around the table while being served, folding chairs having proven to be impractical.
