This review of the volume 'Catalogus' (Catalogue) by the Dutch Poet Arjen Duinker (1956) asks the question of the (im)possibility of reading an avant-garde work of poetry. Consisting of only nouns, it resists interpretation like no other literary work in Dutch literary history. Doesn't it?
